NZXT, INC.
PROJECT 01 / 06
DESCRIPTION
In early 2021, I was asked to spearhead a project that would make the PC building experience accessible to even the most novice of builders. Designing this product involved working across many teams to design a smooth and painless customer PC building journey; starting with the unboxing, creating a guide book, support materials, videos, a website and more.

THE BLD KIT OBJECTIVE
Our goal with the BLD KIT project was to lower the barrier of entry for prospective new PC builders. Many people are intimidated by the prospect of building a PC, but with the right guidance it's simple and very gratifying. We wanted to help users overcome any doubts or concerns, and make the BLD KIT the ideal foray into the PC building space.

PRINT MATERIALS
Printed materials were made to synergize with the book - we designed labels for each computer part, a checklist so people could track their progress, and a parts "map" to help identify each component and provide an illustrated overview of the whole journey the customer would go on.

Designing the BLD KIT Booklet
The BLD KIT booklet was the cornerstone of this project, a book outlining a step-by-step process to building the PC. Every step of the book was scrutinized for its specificity and clarity, and prototypes were tested numerous times in focus groups throughout its design process to ensure all customer pain-points were eliminated.

Videos
Over 10 videos were produced as an alternative to the book, one for each step or "level" in the process. The videos were linked to QR codes, found on stickers (attached to parts) and in the book itself.

Customer Support
New customer support channels were set up to handle personalized assistance. The book was designed to minimize the need for contacting our CS team, but we wanted avenues to exist for those that still needed it.

Unboxing Experience
Consideration was put into what the customer would see first, into how cables & accessories were packaged, and how visible all components / labels were to a customer unboxing the BLD KIT.
Reception
The BLD KIT was widely applauded and recommended highly by members of the PC building community. Feedback was extremely positive with several high profile YouTubers testing and recommending the product, and customers giving very positive opinions.
