PERSONAL PROJECT
PROJECT 05 / 06
DESCRIPTION
In 2020, as part of the NZXT interview process, I was asked to design a mock project for the Furbo Dog Camera product, including a website KV, Instagram banner ads, and an email. I was given one week for the project, did an exploration of the company, product strengths, intended customer base, and executed the campaign complete with animations. The design process is documented below the finished designs.

The first step of the process was looking at company messaging, customer feedback and online dog camera review lists, as well as competitors’ products and messaging.
Messaging
Overall, positive customer reviews mentioned peace of mind & applauded the security sensors, while negative reviews critiqued monthly app pricing, and review lists ranked the product highly, mentioning robust software features and product quality. I tried to focus my messaging around the emotions highlighted by the customers.
Distance between a dog and an owner can negatively impact the psyche of both, and dogs can be vulnerable without a caretaker.
A device that allows for remote canine interaction regardless of distance and assures a dog’s safety through its features.
Problem
Solution
Logos, fonts, colors and images that were in use by the company were collected and repurposed for the project, and newly designed assets adhered to design trends established by the company online.

In addition to a clean, minimalistic approach on the website & Instagram, I felt that the brand messaging could be more playful and visually enticing. To accomplish this I decided to illustrate certain portions of the messaging, while staying consistent with a modern aesthetic. This approach meant lots of experimenting with multiple illustrative styles.
Illustrations

Animating the illustrations began with completing the parts of the illustrations that would typically be hidden, seperating them on different layers, and animating in After Effects.
Animations - Part I

Most details were done using the puppet tool and other features that are baked into After Effects. For some aspects of the animations, frame by frame animation was used to accomplish the desired effect.
